Sunday Worship (COVID-19)

Please follow the RULES

Now that the church is open for two services of Sunday Worship please follow
the guidelines below,
to both to protect yourself and others using the church.
Sunday @ 10.30am
Sunday @ 5pm

Time & Place

The church is now re-open for services at 10.30am and 5pm on Sunday. However, there are strict Government rules, so please observe the guidelines all the time you are present in church. Please see details below.

We strongly advise the use of facemasks if possible as well as adhering to the advice on hygiene.

Two Services, One Message:

The Covid19 restricted seating capacity at our Park Avenue home is only 50 to 60 people. Therefore, we are planning, for the present season, to repeat the same message in the morning and afternoon services, and to ask members and friends of Gilgal to attend only one service (unless 'on duty' in some way), to allow as many people as possible to share in our live meetings.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in these exceptional times.

Sunday Club will run alongside the Morning Service in the Hall, initially for 5 to 11 year olds – please read the separate leaflet being distributed with this news sheet to see how we are planning to do this safely. Programmes for Toddlers and Teens will hopefully be restarting soon.

Covid19 Regulations and Gilgal:

During this additional period of lock-down in BCBC therer are additional rules and regulations - please see the latest guidelines from the South Wales Baptist Union 'here'.

We ask everyone attending our services to be considerate of others and if possible wear a mask into, during and out of church (unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from doing so), and to make every effort to remember to fully comply with the directions and guidance for hygiene protection and social distancing. This will reduce everyone's anxieties and allow more members and friends to return to worship with us.

Thank you for your kindness and help. www.gilgal.co.uk

Online Worship Services:

If you are unable to attend our live meetings, then you can continue to catch up with our recent messages every Sunday morning on our website at http://gilgal.co.uk/news/pastors-blog and on Facebook or YouTube.

Measures that were previously in place are still operating. Please see video below if this Sunday will be your first Sunday back at church.

Gilgal Open For Services

The apostle John wrote: “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ”. (1 John 1:3). Christian fellowship is an essential part of Christian life and so it is with great joy that we can begin to hold worship services together again at Park Avenue, albeit within the legal constraints caused by the Coronavirus pandemic

In line with government guidance we have carried out a Risk Assessment and will operate the following system when the church is open for Sunday worship.

  • The church is now open for two services of worship at 10.30am and 5pm - both services will be approximately 1 hour duration.

  • These services will include worship music but not congregational singing. There will bible based preaching and times of prayer. Children are welcome at the morning services and a Sunday Club for will run in the hall for 5-11 year olds only. Toddlers Corner will be available for younger children.

  • We encourage all in our fellowship who cannot attend to continue to access our main online Sunday Morning service through Face Book, Youtube, and our website gilgal.co.uk.

  • Entrance to the buildings will be through the West Door. The doors will be left open during the service to aid ventilation.

  • To meet Health and Safety requirements we will need to record the names and contact details of those coming into the church.

  • There will be a table just inside the entrance with hand cleansing resources, gloves and an information board. While face masks are recommended they are not compulsory, and you are welcome to bring and wear your own face mask.

  • We will be operating a ‘clean as you come and go’ policy where it is the individuals responsibility to wipe over (with cleaning materials that we will provide), the place where they sit as they arrive and as they leave. The church will be sanitised between the two services.

  • We will be operating a one-way system within the sanctuary which is signed by arrows on the floor. The exit will be through the foyer and the East door. For those who cannot use the steps they can exit through one of the other doors.

  • We have had to remove all cushions and seat covers, if you would like to bring a cushion please remember to take it home again with you afterwards. Likewise, please bring your own bible or devotional resources and take them with you when you leave.

  • We have 27 open rows/pews which can seat individuals, couples and family/bubble groups. We can also add chairs in the wings or in the foyer. So there should be a seating capacity for 40-60+ people

  • Please observe the social distancing markers and tapes, and if possible sit diagonally to the people in the row in front (i.e. not directly behind).

  • The bookstall, Mobo leaflets charity magazine etc., will not be available at present,

  • Seats are not reserved. Please note – no-one has an assigned seat and you may not be able to sit where you often sit. Every seat, always, is free to whoever sits there first.

  • At present we cannot offer refreshments after the services.

  • An Offering Tin will be available in the foyer.

  • Toilets will be available at the front of the church. Please remember to exercise social distancing and good hygiene requirements at all times.

  • We continue to value and support all our members, especially those who are advised to continue ‘shielding’ during the virus. We continue to pray that In coming weeks we may all be able to fully fellowship as a church. Until then, if anyone needs help or support please contact us on 01656 771168 or gillardmc@aol.com.

  • We will be carrying out a continuing review of these guidelines and will notify the fellowship of any changes.

“I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the LORD’.”
